Q Skateboarding League Brings out Skaters' Best

The energy was high at Q Skatepark on Saturday, August 1, as young skateboarders from across the region gathered in Indianapolis to compete in another exciting Q Skate League event. Designed for boys ages 15 and under and girls ages 17 and under, the competition showcased not only impressive skateboarding talent but also the confidence, sportsmanship, and determination that define the next generation of skateboarders.

Skaters competed in three divisions: Boys 12 & Under, Boys 13–15, and Girls 17 & Under. Each competitor received two 45-second runs through Q's street course, where judges evaluated consistency, difficulty, use of the course, style, creativity, and overall execution. Competitors also had three attempts at a best trick, with those scores playing a major role in the final standings.

 

Boys 12 & Under

The youngest division featured an exciting mix of first-time competitors and experienced contest skaters.

Making an unforgettable first contest appearance, Jaxon Carr captured 1st Place with consistent runs and clutch performances during the Best Trick portion of the competition. His ability to stay composed throughout the event earned him the top spot.

Cruz Mikusky, a familiar face on the podium, finished 2nd Place after another strong performance. Cruz came incredibly close to landing a technical 50-50 to 5-0 shove-it out on the ledge—one of the most ambitious tricks attempted all day—that could have changed the outcome of the division.

Another first-time podium finisher, Bowie Carter, earned 3rd Place after landing one of the highlights of the event. His smooth boardslide on the rail during Best Trick impressed both judges and spectators and helped secure his spot on the podium.

Girls 17 & Under

The girls' division showcased both veteran experience and exciting new talent.

Experienced contest skater Lillian Burgin earned 1st Place, but not before adding a new milestone to her skateboarding journey. During the contest, she landed her first frontside boardslide to fakie on the bump-to-bar, proving that competition often inspires skaters to push beyond their comfort zones.

Making their contest debuts, Coraline Nelson earned 2nd Place, while Ella Mould claimed 3rd Place, giving both skaters an impressive first podium finish and a great foundation for future competitions.

Boys 13–15

The oldest division featured some of the day's most competitive skating.

Jaxson Renfro put together one of the strongest opening runs ever seen in a Q Skate League competition. His consistency, trick selection, and confidence earned him 1st Place.

Jaydehn Maldonado finished 2nd Place, impressing judges by attacking every section of the course with a wide variety of cleanly landed tricks.

Rounding out the podium was Lucas Farrell, who recently moved up from the 12 & Under division. Despite competing against older and more experienced skaters for the first time, Lucas proved he belongs among the division's best by earning 3rd Place.

Judge's Awards

Special recognition was given to two skaters who demonstrated exceptional effort and progression throughout the event.

Dimitri Reel, competing in his first contest, received a Judge's Award after showing tremendous improvement throughout the summer and skating with confidence.

Ethan Dugranrut, who traveled from Lima, Ohio, also earned a Judge's Award for charging every obstacle on the course and bringing outstanding energy to the competition.

 

More Than a Contest

With parents, families, and friends filling the viewing area, the atmosphere inside Q Skatepark was electric from start to finish. Every landed trick, every near miss, and every successful run was met with loud cheers and encouragement, creating an environment where every skater felt supported.

At the conclusion of the event, podium finishers were awarded medals along with Q Skate Shop store credit, giving them the opportunity to pick out new skateboard gear as a reward for their hard work.

Q Skate League continues to provide young skateboarders with an opportunity to challenge themselves, build confidence, make new friends, and experience the excitement of competition in a positive and encouraging environment.
